Gwyneth Paltrow is making her small-screen leading debut in The Apology, an A24 drama series that has received a straight-to-two-season order at Netflix. The Oscar winner will play Evelyn Amspoker, a mother whose son was murdered 18 years ago in an unsolved case. When a stranger confesses to the crime, hope for justice emerges — until Evelyn and her husband Caleb discover the killer may receive a reduced sentence, prompting them to take matters into their own hands. The series comes from creator and showrunner Joe Murtagh (The Woman In The Wall). While Paltrow is known for films like Shakespeare In Love and the Iron Man franchise, she has never led a TV series.
