Dolly Parton’s last-ever vocal recording features on U2’s upcoming album, Carnaval de Luz, due November 13th. Parton, who died in August aged 80, recorded the duet with Bono in June. The album-closing track, “Torn,” was co-written with Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid. “When she got ill, she got out of her bed to sing this song,” Bono told Rolling Stone. “And I can’t even listen to it now.” Parton originally pitched the song after rejecting Bono’s Irish folk-inspired sketches. She approved the final mix before her passing. “She was so proud of her vocal,” said producer Jacknife Lee. “She loved it.” Daniel Lanois plays pedal steel on the track, with Larry Mullen Jr. on drums.
