Mel Gibson has apologized following widespread backlash after video footage showed him mocking a sign language interpreter at FanExpo Canada. The incident occurred during Gibson’s retrospective Q&A on August 29th and quickly spread across social media. “Sometimes when you get pushed out on a stage in a spotlight your mind is all over the place, and sometimes spontaneous thoughtless idiocy is displayed,” Gibson said in a statement to Variety. “There was no intended maliciousness attached, and I certainly apologize to anyone who was upset by it.” Contrasting footage of Reacher star Alan Ritchson warmly greeting the same interpreter also went viral. Gibson is currently promoting his upcoming film The Resurrection Of The Christ, a two-part sequel to his 2004 blockbuster
