M.I.A. Sues Kid Cudi For $2.8 Million After Tour Dismissal
M.I.A. has filed a federal lawsuit against Kid Cudi, seeking more than $2.8 million after being removed from his “Rebel Ragers Tour” in early May. The artist claims Cudi kicked her off to generate publicity for the struggling tour. During a May 3rd Dallas show, M.I.A. made controversial remarks about being “cancelled for being a Republican voting American,” drawing boos from the audience. She later clarified on social media that she cannot vote in the U.S. Kid Cudi subsequently issued a statement saying he wouldn’t allow offensive remarks that upset his fanbase. The lawsuit alleges Cudi’s motivations were “purely commercial” and that he had already cancelled tour dates due to low ticket sales. M.I.A. claims she lost additional opportunities worth nearly $300,000 and received death threats. She seeks the guaranteed payment plus punitive damages and legal fees
