Walk for Lyme - Jen's Journey is an event where those affected by Lyme Disease can support one another, while at the same time demonstrating to the rest of Canada that there are indeed, many of us suffering from this disease in British Columbia.
We will share important information with family, friends and the general public about the barriers Lyme disease patients face with respect to diagnosis and treatment.
We will educate people about Lyme disease prevention.
This is a FREE event. Everyone is welcome. However, registration is required.
Our event is a fundraiser. Monies raised will support the G. Magnotta Foundation in the area of research for Canadians. If you cannot make the event this year, but would still like to donate, we recommend simply sending an e-transfer to kamloopswalkforlyme@gmail.com. Tax receipts will be issued with a minimum donation of $25.00. IMPORTANT: Please put your full name and address in the message area of the money transfer.
Two walking routes are planned. For those people actively struggling with symptoms including others with mobility concerns, you will be led around the park for a leisurely stroll. For those of us who are able, we will be walking a route over the Overlanders Bridge and back. This is approximately 3 kms. round trip. For those that wish to stand alongside the bridge with posters, we will be visible to drivers. Designated volunteers will lead each group.
