Daily searches planned for missing Merritt man
MERRITT, B.C. — Miguel Mack was last seen in Merritt three weeks ago. The young man was last seen wearing a burgundy hoodie with white writing on it, dark pants and a toque.
Since his disappearance Miguel’s family has been organizing search parties to scour the area around Merritt. They search every single day from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The community support has been overwhelming with people volunteering their time, cooking meals for the family or even buying gas cards to aid in the search.
“People disregard how much support they can provide, not realizing putting the posters in an envelope and putting them on a wall is more than we can ask for. Or providing a gas card. We provide gas cards if you can’t afford it but you want to help. We have had meals shared with us. The support is there, we just need the people who are willing to because we will make it work,” said Miguel’s older brother Elijah Mack.

They are asking anybody heading into the backcountry to keep their eyes open for any trace of Miguel.
“We are just asking that anybody that has a half-hour, hour, half-a-day, full day, anything — who can come and show up and give a hand here and there. Every little thing helps in this situation. We just have so much ground to cover and so much that has been covered, any support is great support. Especially with a small team, we are just looking for anybody to step up and give us a hand,” added Elijah.
Elijah said the simplest form of support somebody can lend is sharing the missing poster on social media.
