Trans Canada near Chase closed for geotechnical work

UPDATE (10 a.m.): Highway 1 west of Chase has reopened.

UPDATE ( Feb. 9 at 6 a.m.): DriveBC says the stretch of Highway 1 west of Chase remains closed. Another update is due at 9 a.m.

EARLIER: CHASE, B.C. — A stretch of Highway 1 near Chase has been closed.

Drive BC reports a 4.6 kilometre section of the highway was closed Wednesday, Feb. 8, between Shuswap-Chase Creek Road and Shuswap Avenue for a geotechnical investigation.

Detours have been established via Highways 97, 97a and 97b for motorists in the area to use.

Drive BC is expected to provide an update on the closure at 2:00 p.m.
