Vehicle fire closes Highway 5 east of Clearwater

UPDATE (9:30 a.m.): DriveBC says Highway 5 east of Clearwater is now open to single-lane alternating traffic, although there is still no estimated time of reopening.
EARLIER: CLEARWATER, B.C. — A vehicle fire is impacting traffic east of Clearwater Thursday (Jan. 19) morning.
DriveBC first reported of Highway 5 being closed in both directions between Candle Creek Road and Raft River Road at around 7:30 a.m.
DriveBC says fire crews are on site and an assessment is in progress. However, there’s no estimated time for reopening and no detour in place.

Drivers are asked to watch for traffic control.
