Limiting staffing leads to week-long closure of Barriere day clinic
BARRIERE, B.C. — Limited staffing availability is causing another healthcare closure in the North Thompson.
Interior Health confirms the day clinic at the Barriere Health Centre will be closed until July 18.
Area residents requiring urgent or emergent care are advised to call 9-1-1 or go to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.
In an email to CFJC Today, IH notes even when the Barriere day clinic is open as normal, patients who require a higher level of emergency care, such as a serious illness or injury, will need to seek care at RIH in Kamloops.
Other medical services offered at the Barriere and District Health Centre, such as Home Health, publich health, the laboratory and private doctors’ clinics, will remain open for their usual 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. hours.
