Friday morning police situation near NorKam Secondary
KAMLOOPS — 11:15 a.m.: RCMP say staff and students have returned to NorKam Secondary School.
Cst. Crystal Evelyn says police are still investigating “the nature of the threat.”
RCMP and the school district thank the staff, students and parents for their cooperation.
9:25 a.m.: Kamloops RCMP confirm there has been a threat made against NorKam Secondary School.
In an email, Cst. Crystal Evelyn says RCMP received the threat report at 8:15 a.m. Friday (Nov. 5).
Students were taken to an alternative location out of an abundance of caution. That location is confirmed to be McArthur Island. Evelyn says all students and staff are safe.
Evelyn says RCMP and the school district are working together to secure the safety of the area, and ask parents and members of the public to avoid the area for now.
8:45 a.m.: Kamloops RCMP have yet to confirm details, but there is a police situation unfolding around the area of NorKam Secondary School.
There are unconfirmed reports from nearby residents that NorKam students and staff are moving to nearby McArthur Island.
Kamloops Christian School, which is not far away, is also impacted by the situation.
