KAMLOOPS — Interior Health has issued a drug alert for a substance being sold as ketamine in Kamloops.
The alert notes the substance is a grainy, white, crystalline powder but may contain methamphetamine.
This means the drug will have the opposite effect of what is expected, meaning the user may stay awake and be unable to sleep for long periods of time.
The alert was issued Tuesday (Nov. 2) and remains in effect until next Tuesday.
Those who use drugs are encouraged to get their substances checked and to always use with someone else present.
