‘Street Fighter’ Tops Weekend Box Office, ‘You Can See Everything’ Stuns
Street Fighter led the weekend box office with $31 million, though audience and critical reception was tepid, earning a “B-” CinemaScore and just 42% on Rotten Tomatoes. Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim’s documentary You Can See Everything, exploring Elizabeth Holmes, claimed second place with a remarkable $15 million from only 855 theaters. The A24 film, produced secretly over three years for roughly $7 million, marks the biggest documentary opening in over 20 years, since Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11 in 2004. Other Mommy slipped to third with $8.3 million, a steep 70% drop following its D+ CinemaScore debut last weekend. Whalefall, starring Austin Abrams as a scuba diver swallowed by a sperm whale, fell short of expectations in fourth place with $8 million. The Jane Austen remake Sense & Sensibility rounded out the top five, opening to $7.2 million.
