Sabrina Carpenter Set To Play Ginger Rogers In Fred Astaire Biopic

Sabrina Carpenter will play Ginger Rogers in an upcoming Fred Astaire biopic starring Tom Holland. Director Paul King announced Friday that Margaret Qualley will also join the cast, portraying Fred’s sister and original dance partner, Adele Astaire. The still-untitled film, in development for over five years, is based on Kathleen Riley’s biography The Astaires: Fred & Adele and has been approved by the Astaire estate. “The cinematic challenge of bringing to life these icons of the twentieth century is one that I could not imagine without Tom Holland, Margaret Qualley and Sabrina Carpenter by my side,” King said. Fred’s daughter, Ava Astaire McKenzie, also expressed support for the project. Carpenter previously appeared in Girl Meets World, The Hate U Give, and Tall Girl.
