Warner Bros has tapped Mike Flanagan to direct and write a new film adaptation of Stephen King’s 1980 novella The Mist. The story follows a Maine town consumed by a mysterious fog containing deadly creatures. A group of survivors shelter in a grocery store while societal breakdown reveals humanity’s darkest impulses. King’s novella from Skeleton Crew was previously adapted as a 2007 film starring Thomas Jane and a 2017 TV series. Flanagan has previously collaborated extensively with King on Gerald’s Game, Doctor Sleep, and Life Of Chuck. He’s also currently developing King’s classic Carrie as a Prime Video miniseries.
