Sun Peaks Resort reports record for most skier visits in single winter season
SUN PEAKS, B.C. — The skiing season at Sun Peaks Resort will come to a close on Sunday (April 13).
The resort does not release visitation data but its director of communications, Christina Antoniak, is reporting a record-setting winter.
Those records include most skier visits in a season, surpassing the previous mark set in 2022-2023, and the busiest opening day in resort history.
Antoniak notes steady snow conditions, the favourable exchange rate for U.S. visitors and the introduction of the West Bowl Express Chairlift and Powder Ventures Cross Course are among reasons for the strong season.
The resort is wrapping the season this weekend with Wonder Weekend Festival, which includes the Slush Cup, Retro Days, Snow Way Down Bike Slalom, Lift and Lager, DJs, live music and the Top to Bottoms Run.
CFJC Today spoke with Antoniak and Tourism Sun Peaks executive director Naomi Kerchinsky on Friday in Sun Peaks.
