100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — Fire behaviour has calmed on a blaze west of 100 Mile House, leading the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) to end an evacuation in the area.
Residents of properties on either side of Helena Lake Road were ordered out on Wednesday evening (July 24) due to the approaching Moose Valley wildfire.
A large evacuation alert for areas surrounding the order area was enacted at the same time.
Friday, the CRD lifted the evacuation alert and downgraded the order area to an alert, meaning residents of the evacuated properties can return home.
As of Friday, the Moose Valley wildfire is measured at 290 hectares and remains out of control. Lower temperatures and some precipitation have helped firefighters gain the upper hand on the blaze.
