Downton Lake wildfire area restriction order extended

LILLOOET — The BC Wildfire Service(BCWS) has announced the extension of an Area Restriction Order (ARO) in connection with the Downton Lake wildfire in the Lillooet zone of the Kamloops Fire Centre.

The restriction was put in place August 16 and will remain in effect until September 8 with the extension.

With the ARO in place, no one can enter the area unless they are travelling in an official capacity, to support wildfire suppression, to and from their principal residence or recreational property or travelling straight through on a highway.

Failing to comply with an ARO may result in a fine of up to $1,150.
