Apartment suite catches fire in downtown Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — An apartment suite in downtown Kamloops caught fire Saturday (July 29) morning.
According to Norm Little, Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) platoon captain, fire and smoke was showing from the apartment building on the 500-block of Battle Street shortly before noon. Little says the fire was isolated to the one suite.
Residents are asked to avoid the roadway, so KFR and emergency crews have room to work.
If you smell something burning in downtown #Kamloops this is likely the culprit.
Looks like an apartment caught fire on Battle Street between 5th and 6th.

“There is extensive damage in that suite… it was a total suite involved in the fire, and I don’t have any idea what caused the fire,” Little says. “As far as I know, everybody was fine. For right now, we’re denying entry into the building just to make sure everything is safe, and all the smoke is cleared out.”
