Grass fire breaks out in Kamloops’ West End

KAMLOOPS — UPDATE: (3:40 p.m.): Kamloops Fire Rescue says the fire is now under control.
UPDATE (3:10 p.m.): BC Hydro is reporting an outage for 3800 customers.
EARLIER: Kamloops Fire Rescue crews are battling a fire in the area of West Seymour Street off downtown Kamloops.
The fire is throwing a large plume of dark smoke into the air and firefighters are reporting spread into the nearby grasses.
Initial reports suggest a power pole has been affected and there is a power outage associated with the fire as well.
