Mustard Seed Kamloops announces new fundraiser in place of Coldest Night of the Year
KAMLOOPS — The Mustard Seed Kamloops has its new fundraiser in place of the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY).
In a news release issued Wednesday (Feb. 22), the Mustard Seed announced its “Move with The Seed” fundraiser will run from March 1 to May 31, 2023.
“An individual who is experiencing homelessness walks an average of 20 kilometres a day,” Rowena Browne, The Mustard Seed chief development officer says. “We wanted to create an opportunity that will give participants a sense of awareness about one aspect of the harsh realities some of our clients face daily while empowering them to do what they can to make an impact in the lives of our vulnerable community.”
Any interested participant is asked to sign up to walk, run, bike, swim or do any activity for a distance calculated based on the average number of kilometres a person experiencing homelessness travels per day.
Prior to Move with The Seed, CNOY was the Mustard Seed Kamloops’ notable charitable event since 2012. The non-profit cited costs of partaking in CNOY as a reason to why it parted ways with the fundraiser.
Registration for Move with The Seed is online.
