Man arrested, four Kamloops RCMP vehicles damaged near Heffley Creek Monday
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say a man is in custody after four of their vehicles were damaged in a stolen vehicle response Monday (Jan. 23).
In a news release, spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says the incident began at about 3:45 p.m. on Fortune Drive at Sydney Avenue, where an officer recognized a white van that had been reported stolen from the 1300-block of Dalhousie Drive Monday morning.
Evelyn says the investigation took officers to Heffley Creek.
“As part of the investigation, officers attempted to stop the vehicle on Heffley Louis Creek Road and four police vehicles were consequently damaged in the process,” said Evelyn. “Luckily, no one was hurt during the collisions and a suspect was safely taken into custody.”
Kamloops resident Michael Julien Bourlon, 51, is in custody awaiting a bail hearing. He is facing six charges:
- Dangerous operation of a vehicle
- Failure to stop for police
- Possession of stolen property
- Assaulting a police officer with a weapon
- Resisting/obstructing a peace officer x2
