Fraser Canyon highway traffic impacted by falling rocks
SPENCES BRIDGE, B.C. — UPDATE: Drive BC says the rocks on the highway have been cleared away.
EARLIER — There are ongoing issues regarding travel through the Fraser Canyon along Highway 1. For the second time in two days, rocks have fallen on the road in the Spences Bridge area.
According to a DriveBC tweet early Monday (Jan. 9) morning, the rocks are impacting both the northbound and southbound lanes of the highway.
The latest rockfall is approximately 3 km west of Nicomen River Road, between Lytton and Spences Bridge.
While the highway hasn’t been closed at this point, drivers are being urged to slow down and navigate the area with caution. Highway crews are on their way to assess the situation.
Sunday the highway was reduced to alternating lanes of traffic by a rockfall in the Spences Bridge area.
