Rockslide hits Trans Canada near Spences Bridge; Yellowhead closed near Avola
SPENCES BRIDGE, B.C. — UPDATE: Drive BC says the Trans Canada rockslide near Spences Bridge has been cleared.
EARLIER: The Trans Canada Highway is down to single-lane, alternating traffic at Spences Bridge Sunday morning (Dec. 8) due to a rockslide.
Drive BC notes the slide took place between Riverview Avenue and Rannie Pit Road.
There is no word on if any vehicles were impacted by the slide.
The province says crews are on scene assessing the situation.
Motorists are advised to expect delays in the area, or use the Coquihalla Highway or Highway 97C through Logan Lake as alternate routes.
Meantime, Drive BC is reporting a closure of the Yellowhead Highway Sunday morning.
The closure is at Otter Creek, just south of Avola.
According to Drive BC, the closure is due to a vehicle incident and there is no word on when the road might re-open.
