TNRD lifts evacuation alert for areas near Nohomin Creek wildfire
LYTTON, B.C. — An “all clear” has been issued for 55 properties previously on evacuation alert near the Nohomin Creek wildfire.
In a news release Friday, the Thompson Nicola Regional District says all TNRD properties north of Lytton along Highway 12, as well as properties on the west side of the Fraser River and north of Stein River are no longer on alert.
The TNRD says should conditions change, an evacuation alert or order will be reinstated as necessary.
(Photo credit: Thompson Nicola Regional District).The B.C. Wildfire Service says the Nohomin Creek Wildfire, burning 1.7 kilometres northwest of Lytton, has diminished in activity with the current cooler weather. The fire’s south, northeast and east flanks remain stable with no active behavior.
Currently, there are 55 firefighters and two helicopters battling the blaze, which has grown to 3,700 hectares since sparking on July 14.
