Kamloops cancer care centre “to come on track in the coming years”: minister
KAMLOOPS — Update: The Ministry of Health contacted CFJC Today to clarify that the Minister meant to refer to the cancer care centre timeline as “in the coming years“, not “in the coming year“.
Earlier: According to B.C.’s health minister, Kamloops can expect to have a cancer care centre in the coming year.
At last update, the Kamloops cancer centre was in the concept planning stage.
When asked about the status of the project this morning in a media availability, Adrian Dix says that level of planning is still underway.
“The cancer centres in Kamloops, in Nanaimo, the new one that’s going to be joined to the new Surrey hospital and the one in Burnaby — those are all on the way,” said Dix. “We expect them all to be built and to come on track in the coming year. So at the concept plan stage, but going forward.”
The province had previously outlined that the Kamloops centre was a part of B.C.’s 10-year cancer care plan, but specific timelines for when it would be operational have not been available.
