Police investigating suspicious death of woman in Malakwa
SICAMOUS – Police say they are investigating the suspicious circumstances around the New Year’s morning death of a 65 year old woman at a RV resort in Malakwa, approximately 20 kilometres east of Sicamous.
Mounties were called to assist paramedics at the Cedars RV Resort Friday (Jan. 1) at 2:28 am. The victim was discovered initially by a resident of the area, who called for paramedics. Police say the woman was laying in the middle of a private road within the resort complex.
The woman had sustained significant injuries and was rushed to hospital where she died a short time later.
RCMP spokesperson Corporal Jesse O’Donaghey says the police investigation is in the early stages. “Investigators are considering all possible factors that may have led to the woman’s unexpected death, which is being considered as suspicious in nature at this time.”
RCMP are asking anyone who may have information of the incident, to contact the Sicamous RCMP at 250 836-2878 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222-8477.
The BC Coroners Service is also investigating the death.
The identity or hometown of the victim has not been released.
