City of Kamloops closes all play structures to decrease COVID-19 spread

KAMLOOPS – UPDATE: Kamloops-Thompson School District has announced the closure of all of its playgrounds as well.

EARLIER: The City of Kamloops has announced closures of all of its play structures in response to the spread of COVID-19.

According to a news release issued Monday morning (March 23), the City will also install signage about social distancing at all of its parks, skate parks, dog parks and sports courts.

There are 46 play structures being closed, though the city says the fields around them remain open.

As a warning, the City says if its bylaw officers observe social distancing messages are not being heeded, they will consider closing other public gathering areas.
