CHIP AND JOANNA GAINES LAUNCHING NETWORK: Fixer Upper stars Chip and Joanna Gaines are planning a return to TV with their own network. The pair appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to make the announcement Friday. “We signed a non-disclosure and it said quote unquote you can tell your mother but that’s it,” Chip joked after Jimmy asked about a potential return to TV. “So mom, I just wanted to make a quick announcement, we are coming back to television. You are going to get to see the kids grow up, you are going to see us, well maybe a six-month delay like the rest of the world, but we are excited to be back.” They are reportedly in talks with Discovery on a lifestyle network that focuses on their lifestyle brand Magnolia, but nothing has been confirmed. Discovery also owns HGTV, where Fixer Upper helped turn the Gaines into household names.
DAN CRENSHAW APPEARS ON SNL: One week after Pete Davidson made fun of war vet Dan Crenshaw’s eye patch on Saturday Night Live (and earned blowback from politicians, talking heads and colleagues), the newly elected Congressman appeared on the NBC show and received an apology. “So, in what I’m sure is a huge shock for people who know me, I made a poor choice last week,” Davidson began. “I did, I made a joke about Lt. Com. Dan Crenshaw, and on behalf of the show and myself, I apologize.” Crenshaw joined him onstage and accepted his apology, only to troll him by allowing his phone’s ringtone (set to Davidson’s ex’s Ariana Grande’s “Breathin” go off.) “It’s cool, Ariana Grande song,” Davidson laughed as Crenshaw asked, “Oh, do you know her?”
MEGHAN MARKLE’S ASSISTANT QUITS: Royal drama? Meghan Markle’s personal assistant quite just six months after her wedding to Prince Harry, the Daily Mail reports, prompting many to wonder if there’s trouble in paradise. Meanwhile, Meghan, Harry, Kate Middleton and Prince William stepped out together to attend the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Saturday. The event was held to honor those who lost their lives in wars around the world, and marks the 100 years since the end of WWI. The apparently happy appearance comes amid rumors that the two couples in the so-called “Fab Four” are beginning to distance themselves from each other.
DEXTER STAR MICHAEL C. HALL SAYS HE’S NOT ‘ALL THE WAY HETEROSEXUAL’: In a new interview with The Daily Beast, Michael C. Hall says he is not “all the way heterosexual” adding that “as a rule I am heterosexual.” Hall says he believes “there’s a spectrum … I’m heterosexual. But if there was a percentage, I would say I was not all the way heterosexual.” Dexter is married to Morgan MacGregor, whom he wed in 2016. He was married twice previously.
ALEC BALDWIN BAILS ON AWARD CEREMONY HONORING BILLY CRYSTAL: Reeling from the news that his titular ABC show’s time slot is getting moved around and an arrest for punching a man, Alec Baldwin is in no mood to celebrate, Page Six reports. The star has pulled out of a scheduled appearance honoring Billy Crystal, set for Monday at the Friar’s Club. Robert De Niro, Katie Couric, Jimmy Fallon and Meg Ryan are among the others scheduled to speak.
