What man cave couldn’t benefit from a used leather jock strap? More than five years after splitting from his wife Danielle Spencer of nine years, Russell Crowe marked the end of his marriage with a rousing auction he dubbed “The Art of Divorce.”
The event also marked his 54th birthday and his wedding anniversary. Held in Sydney, Australia by Christie’s Australia Saturday night, the event sold off 200 items belonging to the Oscar-winner, including art, movie memorabilia and furniture. Ultimately, the evening earned him about $3.7 million.
- Among the items that were successfully auctioned: a leather jock strap from his 2005 film Cinderella Man, which scored $7K; brown Doc Marten boots from his 1992 film Romper Stomper, which nabbed $10K; his famous Gladiator breastplate, which earned $125K and a violin from Master and Commander for $135K.
